Representative Michael G. Hubbard
Mike Hubbard is an Auburn businessman, a legislator, and a political leader in the state of Alabama.

A 1983 graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in radio and television, Hubbard came to Auburn two weeks after graduation, where he worked for six years in the Auburn Athletic Department as Associate Sports Information Director.

In 1990, he left Auburn University to head up Auburn’s radio and television sports network and in 1994, formed his own company, Auburn Network Inc., to handle Auburn’s multimedia rights. In 2003, Hubbard sold the multimedia sports division of the company to International Sports Properties.

Auburn Network Inc. owns and operates three commercial radio stations in the Auburn/Opelika market. Auburn Network also publishes East Alabama Living, a regional quarterly magazine, and is a partner in Craftmaster Printers Inc., a commercial printing company based in Auburn.

In 1998, Hubbard, in his first attempt at elected office, was elected to a seat in the Alabama House of Representatives and was re-elected in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. He served two terms as Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party and in 2010 was elected as Speaker of the House. He was re-elected Speaker in 2015.

Dr. Susan Sorrells Hubbard is a Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University, where she is responsible for the College’s undergraduate educational programming. She has been a member of the Human Sciences faculty in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Hospitality Management since 1993.

Prior to being named Associate Dean for the College, Hubbard served as the Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRMT) Program Coordinator. In this rile, she was instrumental in the development of the educational partnership between the HRMT program and the West Paces Hotel Group, LLC. She also was responsible for developing the Master of Science in Nutrition and Food Science with emphasis in Hotel and Restaurant Management Distance Education Program.

Hubbard has been a faculty advisor to several student organizations including Omicron Delta Kappa, Mortar Board, Cater Society and Auburn University Tigerettes/Tiger Hosts. She is active in the Camp War Eagle Freshman Orientation program, having been named a Camp War Eagle Honoree in 1996. Hubbard’s other honors and awards include recipient of the 1998 SGA Outstanding Faculty Award; 2003 Undergraduate Alumni Teaching Excellence Award; 2003 Faculty Honoree for Auburn’s Successfully Orienting Students program; 2004 recipient of the Pamela Wells Sheffield Award for commitment to Auburn; 2006 Alabama Hospitality Educator of the Year Award; 2014 Auburn University Outstanding Advising Administrator Award; 2014 NACADA Region IV Excellence in Advising: Advising Administration Award; and 2014 NACADA National Outstanding Advising Administrator Award.

Hubbard holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees in Home Economics Education and a Doctor of Education degree in Vocational and Adult Education from Auburn University.

Mike and Susan Hubbard have two sons, Clayte and Riley. The Hubbards are active members of Auburn United Methodist Church and are active in numerous civic and community organizations in Auburn as well as the state of Alabama.
