A conversation with Dr. David Serota

Why did you choose to create a scholarship at Auburn University?
In memory of my loving parents who never attended college, but taught me the values of education and knowledge and imprinted on me the traits of courage, integrity, and loyalty.

Tell us about your favorite Auburn story or “War Eagle!” moment.
Auburn gave me not only an education, it taught me about life and it helped me to develop the traits that have allowed me to become not only a success in my profession, but a success in life as a caring human being.

What do you hope your recipients gain through this scholarship?
I want them to gain an appreciation of the power of scholarships so that when their opportunity comes, they will return the favor to some future Auburn students.
